Mmm, Teac. No pics at the moment, but my primary audio is using my old Pro Tools AD/DA as a sound card going line-out into a passive trimmer to active Dynaudio BM6A MKIs. Secondary is Sansui receiver and an old Bose setup with two of those small shitty satellite speakers and their big shitty sub. Mostly just use that for reference, but I use the Sansui also as a preamp for my Pioneer turntable and line-out back into my trimmer’s alt input to be able to listen to the records on the monitors. No need for EQ on those. The Sansui EQ’s dirty and nice though.

TEAC is pretty high-end Japanese audio equipment. Working vintage audio equipment can fetch a pretty hefty price, but that usually just applies to Amplifiers. I would wager to bet you could get around $200-400 for just those two TEAC pieces.

My advice is to keep it. The only advantage newer audio equipment has over the vintage stuff is connectability. I would bet that analog equalizer works better than any built-in digital equalizer you could buy today. As for settings, that depends entirely on your speakers, amplifier, and the room you are set up in.

I’ve never been impressed with any digital receiver. They’re full of features to mask the weak sound. The way I used to shop for receivers was to go to flea markets and buy the heaviest one. Always pwns whatever crap they have at Best Buy or ::shudders:: bose.

Not an equalizer fan, for me it’s just one more thing to degrade the signal. I have separates, a sand amp, a tube amp, pre, phono pre. It’s a great hobby to get hooked on.

Oooh a TEAC. Any TEAC I’m told is a pretty good addition to your hifi setup.

Proper eq layout? There’s no “right” answer. Set them all to the middle and then adjust based on your taste, your music, and your speakers.
